LCSW CLINICAL SUPERVISION IN VIRGINIA

Clinical supervision that helps you become a stronger clinician.

Supervision for Virginia social workers who want more than a place to log their hours. We’ll use the work you’re already doing to strengthen your clinical thinking, build your confidence and help you become more intentional about how you assess, conceptualize and intervene.

I bring special experience in school social work, trauma informed care and work with adolescents and adults.

MORE THAN HOURS TOWARD LICENSURE

Clinical supervision should help you think more clearly, not just talk about your week.

You can bring the hard cases, the questions you’re second guessing, and the moments when you’re not really sure what to do next. We’ll slow the work down, look at what you’re noticing clinically, and figure out what actually makes sense for the person in front of you.

That may mean strengthening your assessment and case conceptualization, getting more intentional about interventions, thinking through diagnosis and documentation, or walking through the ethical dilemmas that come with this work.

And if you work in a school, you won’t have to spend half the session explaining the context. I understand the pace, the systems, the MDT’s, the family dynamics and the reality that clinical work in school does not always look like outpatient therapy.

Think more clinically.

Move beyond reacting to the immediate problem and strengthen your case conceptualization.

Choose interventions with intention.

Connect what you’re noticing to interventions that actually fit the client and setting.

Build confidence that carries across settings.

Develop clinical reasoning you can use in schools, outpatient work, and future practice.

A clear structure with room for what’s important to you and the work you need to bring.

Supervision should have enough structure to support your growth without feeling rigid or inconsistent. We’ll use your real cases, questions, and professional goals to guide the work

HOW SUPERVISION WORKS

Individual supervision

Dedicated time to focus on your clinical work, professional development, and licensure goals.

Clinical skill development

We may work on case conceptualization, diagnosis, interventions, documentation, ethics, risk assessment, and more

Support that fits your setting

Whether you work in a school, outpatient setting, community program or another clinical setting, we’ll keep the work grounded in your role.

WHAT WE MAY WORK ON

Supervision should help you build skills you can learn to use with confidence.

The exact focus will depend on your role, experience, and goals, but supervision may include work in areas like….

Assessment & case conceptualization

Making sense of presenting concerns, patterns, context, and the clinical picture before jumping straight to intervention.

Diagnosis & treatment planning

Strengthening your clinical reasoning around diagnosis, goals, treatment planning, and the rationale behind your decisions.

Interventions & clinical skills

Choosing interventions with more intention and building confidence using evidence-informed approaches in real-world settings.

Documentation

Writing notes and clinical documentation that are clear, defensible, clinically meaningful, and connected to the clinical work you are doing.

Ethics, risk & professional judgment

Thinking through gray areas, safety concerns, boundaries, competing responsibilities, and decisions that do not come with an easy answer.

Professional identity & growth

Developing confidence in your clinical voice, understanding your strengths, and becoming more intentional about the kind of social worker you want to be.

WHO THIS IS FOR

For Social workers who want supervision to feel useful not performative.

You do not need to have everything figured out before starting supervision. You may be early in your clinical development, changing settings, building confidence, or looking for more depth than you have had in supervision before.

This may be a good fit if you…

  • are pursuing LCSW licensure in Virginia

  • want stronger clinical assessment and intervention skills

  • value supervision that includes teaching, not only case updates

  • want support thinking through diagnosis, documentation, ethics, and risk

  • are developing your professional as aclinican

  • want supervision that considers systems, culture, relationships, and context

A particular fit for school social workers

School social work is a particular area of specialty and experience for me, so if you work in a school, you will not have to spend supervision translating the setting before we can get to the clinical work.

We can talk about the realities of MDT’s, crisis work, family engagement, attendance concerns, special education, documentation, boundaries, and the tension that can come with balancing clinical needs and school-based expectations.
